Zama Mae Spears, 89, of Casper, Wyoming passed away Thursday, October 3, 2024.
Zama was born April 25, 1935 in Centralia, Washington to Ira and Lettie Kennison. She was a cheerleader and graduated from Napavine High School. She married Edward Spears in February of 1953. They made their home in Casper when Ed's business moved them to Wyoming. The couple had five children, Carolyn, Gary, Keith, Kenny, and Cindy.
Zama was a homemaker to not only her children, but anyone who needed a nurturing and loving home. There was nothing she would not do for anyone; she impacted the lives of many. She had a heart of gold and always made every holiday, birthday, and event special. She helped raise all of her grandchildren and many of her great grandchildren. Zama was the support and confidant to all of her family; she made everyone feel special and completely loved. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting, was an incessant reader, and loved sitting in the sun. Zama worked at Harry Yesness clothing store alongside husband, Ed, and was an expert giftwrapper. They were an amazing team and shared a wonderful and loving life together. They shared the love of antiques and were long-time members of the Casper Antique and Collector's Club.
She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Ed; children, Carolyn Bue; Gary (Barbara); Keith (Linda); Kenny; Cindy McDaniel; grandchildren, Jennifer (Josh); Jessica; Christopher; Angela (Jerry); Alana (Evan); Kelly; Joseph (Monique); Travis and Wyatt; and 14 great grandchildren.
Her family is grateful for the loving, nurturing, warm, and supportive wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend she was to them. Zama's legacy will live on through her caring example.
In lieu of flowers, please donate in Zama's honor to Make-A-Wish of Wyoming. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
