A celebration of the life of Wayne Clark will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 804 S. Wolcott St. on Saturday, February 28th at 10:30 a.m. He passed away unexpectedly Monday, February 23, 2009 at the Wyoming Medical Center.

He was born August 16, 1920 in rural Greer County, Oklahoma, the eldest child of Clarence Orin Clark and Mary Angeline Walters. Wayne graduated from Centralvue High School, Mangum Oklahoma on May 27, 1938. He attended King Business School and enlisted in the Navy on November 16, 1942. He served with the 54th Seebees (Construction Battalion) in both the Northwest African Waters and in the Pacific Theater. He was a Yeoman First Class when he was discharged on March 15, 1946.

Wayne returned to Oklahoma where he started working for Tuboscope as a drill collar and down-hole tools inspector. In 1948, he was transferred to Casper Wyoming and worked throughout the Rocky Mountain and western plains states. Wayne started his own inspection service business in the early 1960's and retired in 1986.

He met his wife Kathryn M. Traut in Casper in the 1950's. They were happily married 51 years. Wayne was an active member of the Casper Petroleum Club and was a past Board Member of the Cowboy Joe Club. He was a long-time avid fan of the Wyoming Cowboys football and basketball programs. In his later years, despite deteriorating eyesight, he continued to travel to Laramie to be at the games. He was a passionate gardener taking great pride in his roses. He loved fishing and hunting and was a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels. Wayne had a huge heart and loved his grandson's Derek and Ryan Jay and was deeply involved in their lives, attending their many sporting activities. He was very proud to be a great grandfather of Nickolas Jay. He was blessed to have the love of close neighbors Scott and Ally Klosterman and received much joy from being "papa" to Nicole and Sarah.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother-in-law, John Traut. Wayne is survived by his wife, Kathryn Clark; his daughter and son-in-law, Debby and Dick Jay of Casper; grandson, Derek Jay and his wife Olga of Denver and their son Nickolas; his grandson, Ryan Jay of Casper; his brother, Hap Clark of Casper, sister Madeline Moore of Wells Point, Texas and brother-in-law Wyborne Traut. Surviving nieces and nephews include Pam Koudelka, Kathy Vaega, Jennifer Morss, Jeff Clark, John and Nancy D'Hooge, Barbara Traut, Dave Traut, Donald Traut, and great nieces and nephew Audrey, Anna and Malory D'Hooge, Sarah Downing and David McClelland, Kathryn, JoHanna, Justin and Timothy Traut.

Memorials may be made to Meals On Wheels or the Central Wyoming Hospice.
