Heaven received our loving Angel; Wilma Meryhew on Monday, March 21st, 2016. She passed at her home in Casper, Wyoming surrounded by her family. Wilma (Jensik) was born on May 13th, 1931 to George and Albina (Legerski) Jensik in Acme Wyoming. Wilma resided in the Sheridan area all of her life until she moved to Casper to be closer to her daughter Barb in 2009.
In her teens, Wilma played softball for the Country Night Club (Chigs Place) making an awesome first baseman as she was left handed. Wilma married Gerald Meryhew on January 23rd, 1956 in Hardin, Montana and spent the next 26 years together raising their two daughters. Wilma was a house wife and gardener; making the best canned pickles and chopped peppers. Wilma was active throughout the years in baseball dart leagues and also enjoyed reading, embroidering (making every stitch perfect), and playing bingo; where she met some of her best friends. Wilma took up bartending, first at the Brown Palace Bar and then the American Legion on weekends. She met many wonderful people throughout those years. Wilma was a member of the Big Horn Mountain Eagles Ladies Auxiliary and Post #1560 of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary as well as a member of the Holy Name Catholic Church.
Wilma spent many years caring for and visiting many members of her family and friends. She is survived by her two daughters; Barb Meryhew (Chris Rogers) of Casper and Deb Meryhew (Pat Montez) Kevin, Kara, Kevin Jr. and Kyler Montez; all of Laramie and Angela, Brett and Judson Lamb of Melbourne, FL. She is also survived by her sister Margaret Boaz of Portland OR; as well as many nieces and nephews and her close friends Norma Leis and Irene Hull.
Wilma was preceded in death by her husband Gerald, parents George and Lena, sisters Betty Bell, Rosemary Legerski, and Mary Sweem, and brother George Jensik, Jr.
Viewing will be held from 11:00 to 2:00 on Wednesday, March 23, 2016 and from 9:00 to 10:00 on Thursday, March 24, 2016 followed by a Funeral Service; at Newcomer Funeral Home in Casper, Wyoming. Grave side services will follow at Sheridan Municipal Cemetery in Sheridan Wyoming at 3:00 p.m.
Pallbearers are: Christine Rogers, Patricia Montez, Dale Legerski, Mark Jensik, Donna Bell and Dora Montez.
