Memorial Mass for Casper, WY resident William J. (Bill) Trotter, 75, will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Nov. 23 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Casper by Father August Koeune and Father Bruce Clapham. Burial will be at Pine Slope Cemetery in Edgemont, SD at 4:00 p.m. following the funeral. Vigil and rosary service will be held Tuesday Nov. 22 at 7:00 pm at St. Patrick's Catholic Church.

He died Nov. 20 at Wyoming Medical Center surrounded by family. His worn out heart never stopped his giving nature.

Born Feb. 12, 1930 on a bright moonlit night to Joseph and Ruth (Kennedy) Trotter, joining one sister Patricia in Edgemont, SD, Bill was raised on the family ranch in Fall River County, SD.

He attended a one room country grade school in Provo, SD; Provo High School on Black Hills Ordinance Depot, Igloo, SD and Chadron State College from 1947-1951 in Chadron, NB.

He married Elaine Coyle Oct. 23, 1948 in Edgemont. They were the proud parents of seven sons. Bill returned to ranch in partnership with his father and mother from 1951-1979 and was active in the Farm Bureau Federation, South Dakota Sheepgrowers and South Dakota and Nebr. Stockgrowers Assn. They moved to Casper, WY in 1979, where he sold farm and ranch real estate for seven years.

Bill was active in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and Mended Hearts. He enjoyed hunting, reading, traveling and visiting sons and families.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, son's Ron (Joyce) of Kerrville, TX, Dale (Claire) of Broomfield, CO, Dan (Debbie) of Mill Creek, WA, Joe (Pauline) of Edgemont, SD, Ralph (Virginia) of Casper, Jim (Kathy) of Auburn Hills, MI, and Steve (Trish) of Kirkland, WA, daughter-in-law Doris Trotter of San Antonio, TX, seventeen grandchildren and six great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established at St. Patrick's Catholic Church or The Mended Hearts, Inc.
