William "Bill" Manolovitz, 70, passed away on February 2, 2021 at Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming from complications due to Covid-19.
While his leaving us was unexpected, we take comfort in the fact he is now free from pain and is reunited with those he loved that have left before us.
Bill was born on May 29, 1950 in Bismarck, ND to Pete and Bernice (Kahl) Manolovitz. He grew up in Mandan, ND and graduated from Mandan High School in 1969. In 1970, he joined the Army and was stationed in Germany. He had volunteered for Vietnam, but he always told us they must have figured he was too crazy to be sent there since he actually wanted to go.
Bill married Jeanie Swendsen on November 25, 1972 in McClusky, ND. They had 2 daughters, Kari and Jill. They started their married life in Mandan, ND and also lived in Tioga and Belfield, ND. They moved to Casper, WY in 1987 and have resided in Casper since then.
After his discharge from the Army, Bill worked for Piper Trucking and Hartman Trucking in Mandan. In 1977, Bill started working in the oilfield in Tioga, ND for Halliburton and finished in Casper, WY after 20 years.
He also worked as an OTR driver for East West Motor Express in South Dakota for a few years. In October 2001, he began work as a hotshot driver for J & M Trucking in Casper. He spent 20 years with them and, according to Bill, they were the best employers he ever had. His greatest times were spent with his family. He loved helping his children and grandchildren, attending their events, and enjoying their company. The family will truly miss him at our gatherings.
Bill was preceded in death by his father and mother, Pete and Bernice, his in-laws Roy and Millie Swendsen, brother-in-law, Harlan Swendsen and former son-in-law, Steve Rausch and his beloved pets, Scampy, Ohana, and Hershey.
Bill is survived by his wife, Jeanie; his daughters, Kari (Jay) Watson and Jill Rausch of Casper, WY; grandchildren Haley Custer (Danyl Marcus), Zach Rausch (Sianna Shultz), Connor Custer, Shawna Rausch and Luke Rausch all of Casper, WY; step-grandchildren Brittany (Ethan) Pope of Midland, TX; Rachel (Doug) Brown of Casper, WY and their daughter, Maisey (1st great-grandchild) and April Watson (Kyle Massey) of Gillette, WY; and "bonus" granddaughter Shaelea Spargur of Casper, WY. He is also survived by his siblings, Lawrence (Sheree) Manolovitz of Buckeye, Arizona, Mary (Chuck) Weiand of Mandan, ND; JoLinda (Corey) Dixon of Phoenix, Arizona, and Shelli (Stuart) Hilfer of Buckeye, Arizona; sisters-in-law, Sandy (Ralph) Fischer of Wing, ND, Lil (Dick) Britton of Turtle Lake, ND, and Karla (Chuck) Wester of Black Forest, Colorado; in addition to several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home in Casper, WY at 3 PM (MST) on February 12th.
A memorial webcasting will be available for those who cannot attend via a link on Newcomer's website. The burial will take place at the North Dakota Veteran's cemetery later this year.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Barbara Davis Center of Childhood Diabetes in Aurora, CO in honor of his grandson, Luke.
