William George "Bill" Eastman, 74, died Dec. 14, 2014 of natural causes in Casper.
Bill was born May 23, 1940, in Big Piney, to Elwin George "Ted" and Margaret Evelyn Mann Eastman.
Bill graduated from Mountain View High School in 1958 and served in the Wyoming National Guard. He then worked road construction during the summer and graduated from The University of Wyoming in 1966 with a bachelor degree in education. He went on to teach and coach in Chugwater, Big Piney and Dubois. In 1963 he married Judy Swallow and they had two children. They were later divorced.
Bill lived life the way he wanted to live life and it was unconventional in many ways. He held onto things loosely, he kept things simple, always trusting his Creator. He was very generous even though he didn't have much. He literally gave a homeless man on the West Coast the only shirt he owned. He had strong faith and always said his body was temporary, everything in this life was temporary. He knew the best was yet to come. His resolve was strong and he was known to refuse medical treatment stating, "God will either heal me or take me and either way works for me." God has now called him home, and he is where he has always longed to be. He has left an impression on many people, and will be missed. The last many years he lived with or near his beloved friends, Janet Berry, Cody LeBlanc, Gina LeBlanc, and Xylon and Xavier Kientz.
Bill was preceded in death by both of his parents, Elwin George "Ted" and Margaret Evelyn Mann Eastman.
He is survived by two children: Ronald (Suzie) Eastman of Gillette, Wyoming, and Gayle (Kendall) Schmidt of Fort Collins, Colorado; four grandsons: Corben and Cody Eastman, and Garrett and Grant Schmidt; three siblings, Grant Eastman of Hobart, Wisconsin, Connie Roach of Battle Mountain, Nevada, and Linda Drummond of Londonderry, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial and burial at a later date in Fort Bridger, Wyoming.
