William J. Crouch

On June 5, 2019, William J. "Bill" Crouch died peacefully, surrounded by family at the age of 92. Bill was born in LaJunta, Colorado to William and Alpha Crouch. In his youth, he earned Eagle Scout status and danced with the LaJunta Koshares and traveled with them to numerous reservations to learn authentic dances. At 17, he enlisted in the Navy and served in the South Pacific during World War II. Upon his return, he played football at the Colorado School of Mines and finished his degree in petroleum engineering at the University of Tulsa.
He married Marjorie Frances Rolander in 1950, and they relocated to Casper, Wyoming, where they raised seven daughters and he worked as an oil and gas consultant. He served on the Oil and Gas Commission for several years and as the president of the Casper Petroleum Club. Playing in the Wildcatters Golf Tournament and helping with a 4-H horse program were highlights of every summer. For many years, he led the St. Patrick's Boy Scout Troup and drove for Meals on Wheels.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Elizabeth Arment; his son-in-law, Doug Sutton; and great-granddaughter, AnnElise Huff-Perrine. He is survived by his wife and his daughters, Kathy Huff (Wayne), Mary Sutton (Doug), Susan Londe (Mike), Janet Wragge (Walt), Patti Cook (David), Carolyn Jacobs (Marvin), and Frances Crouch (Kin Snyder). He was the proud grandfather to eighteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 on Tuesday, June 11th at St. Anthony's Church, and he'll be interred at Oregon Trail Veteran's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Casper Humane Society or Central Wyoming Hospice, who provided deeply appreciated care during Bill's final days. The family also wishes to express their tremendous thanks to the staff at Meadow Winds Assisted Living Center and the St. Patrick's communion outreach.
