William "Bill" Coleman

August 21, 1940 — August 20, 2024

Casper, Wyoming

William "Bill" P. Coleman passed away unexpectedly but peacefully on August 20, 2024, in Casper, Wyoming. Bill was loved and adored by family for his affection and devotion to his wife, Karen, for over 60 years.

Bill was born in Love, Mississippi on August 21,1940 to P.A. “Slim” and Evelyn Coleman. His family packed up to follow the oil boom out west, settling in Casper, Wyoming in 1950.

He graduated from Natrona County High School in 1958, while working for his father at Coleman & Sons, Inc. He met the love of his life, Karen and married in September of 1961. Together they had two beautiful children, Stephanie Coleman Black and Scott Coleman. While his family was still young they spent weekends at Casper Mountain, Alcova and Pathfinder Lakes exploring and making memories boating, fishing and waterskiing.

Bill worked for various employers including Masek’s Auto Supply, Pioneer Drilling, and Loffland Brothers Drilling. He was a gifted mechanic who could fix or repair anything. He spent many years traveling throughout the Western United States at all hours of day and night, in every type of weather condition imaginable to check rigs and repair the equipment needed to keep them up and running. Later in his career he returned to help manage the family business Coleman & Son’s Inc. Bill’s final years in the workforce were spent working at Sinclair Oil’s Refinery in Casper.

When not working, Bill and Karen traveled regularly to Denver, Salt Lake, the Hawaiian Islands and Europe to experience good food and wine while spending time together.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Slim and Evelyn Coleman, brother Allen ”Ray” Coleman and sister-in-law Carolyn. He is survived by his siblings, Sara Kennedy of Anchorage Alaska, Charles “Charlie” Coleman (Peggy) of Ft. Collins Colorado, sister Susan Moens and sister-in-law MaryAnn Dewald Cain (Clyde) all of Casper, Wyoming. Daughter; Stephanie Black (Murphy Lents) and son, Scott (Stephanie), grandchildren; Lauren and Kristen Black and Brent Coleman.
