Served in the US Army from 1942 until 1946 and served in the National Guard from 1946 until 1961. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He married Mildred "Tootsie" Parker on June 2, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois. He worked in Hotel management and the career took him all over the United States. He was a member of the Master Craftsmen in Casper.
