Wendy K. Garrison, 71, of Casper, Wyoming, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, May 19th, 2023, after a long battle with a chronic respiratory illness.
Wendy was born February 28th, 1952, in Xenia, Ohio, where she grew up as the sixth of eight siblings. She earned her Bachelor's and Master's degrees from Wright State University in Fairborn, Ohio in education with a reading emphasis. She loved teaching and was a long time member of the Ohio, Wyoming, and National Education Associations, and instilled a love of reading in countless students and both of her own children.
She married Calvin Lewis Garrison in August of 1981, and in 1988 relocated with him to Wyoming after the birth of their children. She fell in love with the vast, open skies and spaces of the West immediately and loved the sound of a rushing river in the mountains more than anything. She never forgot her Ohio roots but never lost the sense of wonder at the place in which she spent the second half of her life.
Wendy is survived by her husband, Calvin Lewis Garrison, her children, Elaine and Jack Garrison, and son-in-law Kendall Conley. Private family services will be held on Friday, May 26th in Casper, after which she will be returned to the Earth in one of the rushing rivers in which she found so much peace in life.
In lieu of sending gifts to the family, we ask that you please consider making a donation to your local library or any charity that puts books in kids' hands, as there was no more important cause to her.
Arrangements are under the direction of Newcomer Casper. To leave the family a special message, please select the "Share Memories" option.
