Wenceslao "Wence" Rios Perea, 81, of Cheyenne, Wyoming passed away Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Central Wyoming Hospice in Casper, Wyoming. He was born on September 27, 1939 in Saucillo, Chihuahua to Benito and Arcadia Rios Perea. Wence left formal schooling at an early age to help his family on the farm. At about 18 years old he settled in El Paso, Texas with his God parents where he worked at a restaurant and then became self taught in construction, fencing and other talents with his hands. He traveled all over the west for work including Cheyenne.
At 47 Wence moved back to El Paso where he met Maria Rodriguez, together they had four children two of whom were adopted at the time of their marriage. The family moved back to Cheyenne where Wence worked in maintenance, however he really enjoyed working on cars and that became his career that he really enjoyed.
In his free time he played in a band mastering many instruments. He was a great dancer and Maria ill hold the memories of them dancing dear to her. He really looked forward to time with his family, enjoying music and family BBQ's when they gathered every weekend. He also looked forward to the quiet times with Maria making the family tamales. Wence became especially close to his granddaughter, Leslie whom he and Maria raised from a young age. A special moment was when Wence met Leslie's first born, Christian Mateo Rios. Wence loved the grandchildren of the family, especially Jaylinn, Georgina, Efrain, Cataleya and Axel.
Wence also had a big love of animals big and small. The family will always remember him as enjoying his time with his music playing and sipping on a whiskey and Coke or his Smirnoff Ice.
He is preceded in death his parents; two brothers; and one sister.
Wence is survived by his wife, Maria Rios; children, Martina Rios, Marcos Rios, Eliazar R. Rodriguez, and Flor Rios; 12 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; one brother, Esteban Rios; and numerous other relatives.
