Harvey Wayne Laird, 80, of Mills, passed away October 9, 2018, at the Wyoming Medical Center following an unexpected cardiac event.
Wayne was born November 22, 1937, in Evansville, Wyoming, the son of Harvey and Lela Laird. He served nine years in the United States Marine Corp, was a member of the American Legion and remained a proud veteran all his life. He married the love of his life, Viola "Vi" Laird, on April 13, 1974, and remained happily married until she preceded him in death on March 19, 2009. Wayne was employed as an aircraft mechanic and truck driver for most of his professional career. After retiring from truck driving, he worked at Gases Plus, where he was well known by his coworkers and customers alike for his sense of humor and infectious smile. Upon retiring again, he took up his favorite "job" of all - spending time sharing his generosity and orneriness via personal visits, emails and deliveries of homemade goodies such as jalapeno jelly and pumpkin bread to friends and family across town. He was an avid Denver Broncos football fan and was well known for his game day Broncos uniforms and delicious snacks. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, rodeos and PBR.
Wayne is survived by his daughter Carla Laird Dunn (Casper), son Carl Laird (Colorado), son Allen Laird (Arizona), son Butch Francis and wife Kay (Kansas), eleven grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren (soon to be fourteen), five great-great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Rita Laird, cousin Betty Laird Eauches, multiple nieces and nephews and close friend & neighbors Damon and Patty Cundall. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Harvey and Lela Laird, wife Vi, brothers Carl and Henry ("Sonny") Laird, sisters June Laird, Alice Gilstrap, Sue Mair and son Frank Francis.
