At his request no services are planned for Wayne L. Brawley Sr., who passed away on Monday May 20, 2013 after a brief battle with cancer.
Wayne was born September 4, 1936 in McClure, Illinois to Jeff and Selma Brawley. Wayne was a family man: he was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, and great grandpa. Everything he did and accomplished was all for his family of whom he cherished.
He served in the military from 1956-1958 with a tour in the Korean Conflict. He was a SP4 with Charlie Company First Brigade 17th Infantry. He was honorably discharged as a First Ranger in October 1958. In November of 1989 he married Rita Reynolds, combing both families together. Wayne worked for CDK from 1986 until his retirement in 2001 as a supervisor. During this time Wayne and Rita traveled the country for various projects. After his retirement they moved to Casper where they lived happily; Wayne doing odd jobs, such as rebuilding and repairing small engines. His passions were fishing, hunting, and spending time with family and friends. During their time in Casper Wayne met and befriended several people, forming and bonding lifelong friendships while tinkering in his shop.
Over the years he taught his children numerous trades to better themselves in life. He was firm but fair. He was a hero to many and a mentor to many more. He leaves us all with a ton of knowledge and even more wonderful and loving memories. He will be forever gone but never forgotten.
Wayne is survived by his wife Rita Brawley, his siblings, Dale and Willie Brawley, Phylis and Dewy Count, and Hilda and Bill Vanvalkinberg; his children and their spouses Sherry and Mike Greenfield, Cecil and Jay Linder, Tony and Rena Wells, Debbie and Bill Nesvig, Wayne Jr. and Amy Brawley, David Brawley, Jimmy and Johni Wells, and Courtney Everett. He is also survived by 17 grandkids and 11 great grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents.
