Walter B. Hoshaw, 93 of Casper, passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Central Wyoming Hospice. He was born on September 20, 1925 in Casper, WY, the youngest of four siblings, to Harry and Mary (Dodds) Hoshaw.
He spent his younger years growing up in Alcova, WY where he attended school through the eighth grade. In May of 1941, at the age of 15, Walt joined the Marine Corps and served his country until 1945. In September, on the 23rd in 1972 Walt married Elaine Leitzke. They made their home in Casper, WY.
Walt was employed for 33 years with the Wyoming Department of Transportation where for several of those years he spent being the maintenance foreman. After his retirement in 1986 he and Elaine spent much of their time at Alcova Reservoir where they enjoyed fishing and taking in the wildlife.
Walt was a member of the Presbyterian Church and was a Mason. He is survived by a niece, Judy Olson of Casper, WY; nephews, Wade and Bart Olson of Casper, WY; step-daughter, Pam Robinder of Douglas, WY; two grandchildren, Shanna Wilcox of Gillette, WY and Brady Robinder of CO; and two great grandchildren, Bell and Drew Wilcox both of Gillette, WY. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Elaine Hoshaw in March of 2017, brothers Harry and Wilson and sister Gertrude.
A small graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at Highland Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rhonda Cochran, Wade Olson, Bart Olson, Terry Salmon, Mark Sebion and Byran Drew.
