Life History:
Virginia L. Kraen passed away on Tuesday, May 13th at Wyoming Medical Center, surrounded by her family.
She was 88. A Celebration of her life will be held at St Anthony's Catholic Church on Thursday May 15th 2008 at 10:00a.m. Rosary will be recited 7:00p.m. At Newcomer Family Funeral Home.
Virginia L. Bates was born December 30, 1919 to Claude and Rosalee (Didelot) Bates in Clearmont, Wyoming. She attended school in Clearmont graduating with honors in 1937. She attended Chadron State College in Chadron, Nebraska for one year, and then married Herman Kraen of Buffalo on January 1, 1939. They lived in Buffalo until 1952 when they moved to Casper.
She was a member of St Anthony's Catholic Church and active in many church activities. She was a long time volunteer at St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store.
During her daughters' years at St Anthony's School she was a Girl Scout leader, member of Mother's Club and Alter & Rosary Society. She was also a volunteer on the throat culture program at St Anthony's School.
She was a lone time member of the Casper Antique and Collector Club and was active in buying and selling antiques and collectibles at the antique shows.
She was a charter member of the Casper Doll Club and enjoyed her large collection of all kinds of dolls.
For the past thirty years she was a member of CUSA, a national organization of Catholics United in Spiritual
Action. For several years she was a driver for Meals on Wheels and was a visiting minister at the hospital for the church her whole life was her six daughters, her grandchildren and great grand children who she loved dearly.

Survivors include: Janet and Ed Mackler of Glenrock, Joan and Tom Anderson of Casper, Judy Kraen of Casper, Jolyn and George Wynn of Hines, Oregon, Jerri and John Harris of Anchorage, Alaska; Jamie and Larry Bodyfelt of Rock Springs, 15 grandchildren, 8 great grand children, one great great grandchild and her faithful cat Ophie.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Kraen, her parents Claude and Rose Bates, two sisters and three brothers.
