Virginia Rufenacht

Virginia L Rufenacht, 80 years of age, a long time resident of Casper, Wyoming, died peacefully at home Sunday (December 12, 2010), concluding her brave fight with advancing cancer. She was born in Lodgepole, Nebraska, on January 31, 1930, the daughter of Frank and Myrtle M. (Heath) Hoffman. She grew up in Lodgepole, along with two sisters, Violet (Bauer) and Lois (Duncan, Dusky). Ginny attended school in Lodgepole and graduated as a member of the class of 1948. After High School, she went on to graduate from a beauty school in Hastings, Nebraska. Upon returning to Lodgepole she worked with her mother at the family-owned Cinderella Beauty Shop that was a long time Lodgepole established business.
She married Bob D. Rufenacht, her high school classmate, on March 3, 1950, in Lodgepole, Nebraska, and they made their home in the Lodgepole area for five years. Their family grew with the births of Cynthia Lee and Steven Dale during this time. The family moved to Denver, Colorado, in May of 1955, where Bob had been transferred by his employer, (Black, Sivalls & Bryson, Inc.), and remained there until September 1957. Another work transfer led them to move to Vernal, Utah where Douglas Lynn was born and they lived there until early 1965. They then moved to Casper, Wyoming, as Bob joined up with his long time friend, John W. Williams, to help form and co-found an oil field equipment and service business, J.W. Williams, Inc., that later became a successful long time Casper employer for many. While Bob was working and building the business, Ginny was giving guidance, love, and care while raising their children, always there and available during their schooling years. She was a homemaker deluxe, and later in life was a Pink Lady volunteer at the Wyoming Medical Center Hospital in Casper, and for a Georgetown, Texas, hospital during retirement. She enjoyed spending time with her family, league bowling and golfing, vacations and camping trips, and during retirement going South for the winters to Arizona and Texas, where water aerobics, long walks and playing games were popular. She really enjoyed playing the card game Cribbage with anyone who would challenge her, but few stood a chance of winning. Ginny had good Cribbage skills and was always a lucky game player.
Survivors include her husband, Bob D. of Casper; One Daughter, Cynthia L. Nikkel and husband, Robert, of Fort Collins, Colorado; two sons; Steven D. and wife, Phyllis of Evansville, Wyoming, and Douglas L. and wife, Angela, of Peyton, Colorado; Two sisters: Violet Bauer of Lodgepole, Nebraska, and Lois Dusky of Overton, Nevada; Thirteen Grandchildren and many Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; Frank and Myrtle Hoffman of Lodgepole, Nebraska, and one grandson; John Eastlund, of Evansville, Wyoming.
Services will be held at the Newcomers funeral home, with a private interment to follow at the Highland Cemetery in Casper, Wyoming. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial to the American Cancer Society or the Central Wyoming Hospice Program.
