Virginia Applehans

Virginia L. Applehans passed away from natural causes and went to find peace with her Savior on 1-27-10. She had lived at Shepherd of the Valley Care Center since 2003.

She was born in Topeka, KS on April 13, 1916 to Russell & Maria Iserman. Virginia attended schools in Casper and graduated from Natrona County High School in 1934. Virginia attended St. Mary's College in Leavenworth, KS for two years before she met her future husband, Sy Applehans.

Virginia worked as a dental assistant for several years in the Casper area. She also worked at the Natrona County Health Dept. and in the library at Kelly Walsh High School before retiring. She had been a member of St. Patrick's Catholic.

Virginia always loved Casper, especially Casper Mountain where she could watch the wildlife
And go for drives in the summer. Virginia was a loving mother and was always there to take care of her children's needs. Her grandchildren will always remember playing a rowdy game of aggravation with grandma. Virginia always loved animals, especially dogs and would bring home any strays. She donated money, blankets, etc to the local animal shelter most of her life.

Virginia is preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester (Fat) Applehans, her parents, and two sisters, Gertrude Kearns and Jeanne Linn.
She is survived by her children, Bill Applehans (Barbara) from Little Elm, TX, and Mary Mooney (Phil) of Bozeman, MT. She is also survived by her brother, Milton (Bud) Iserman of Gilroy, CA., cousins Bob Iserman of Casper and Elizabeth Upton of Apache Junction, AZ. And 6 grandchilren.

Cremation has taken place and no memorial service is planned as requested by the deceased. Because of her love for dogs donations may be made to the Big Sky Rottweiler Rescue,c/o Troy Kechely, P.O. Box 11572, Bozeman, MT 59718. Newcomer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
