Viola "Vi" Laird
February 4, 1931 – March 19, 2009
Viola "Vi" Laird, 78, of Mills, passed away March 19, 2009 at the Wyoming Medical
Center following an unexpected illness.
She was born Feb. 4, 1931, in Brimley, MI, the daughter of Frank and Thelma Robertson Pedrin. She came to Wyoming with her uncle in 1948. She was united in marriage to Wayne Laird April 13, 1974 in Casper, WY. She owned and operated her own restaurant in Casper and also later worked in food service for various school systems. Mrs. Laird was employed by Green Thumb and worked for The Self Help Center and Five Trails. Mrs. Laird was an avid Denver Broncos fan and enjoyed fishing, gardening and cooking. She was a member of the American Legion. Survivors include her husband, Wayne, three sons, Butch Francis and his wife, Kay of Conway Springs, KS, Carl and Allen Laird, both of Casper, a daughter, Carla Dunn and her husband Bobby of Mills, ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great great grandchild. One brother, Gerald Pedrin of Newberry, MI. She is preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Frank Lee Francis and Dale Purue, four brothers, Vern, Jay, Jim and Richard Pedrin and a very special friend, Howard Purue.
Memorial services will be Monday, March 23, 2009, 1:00 PM at the Grace Bible Baptist Church, 405 S. Park St. Casper, with Pastor Tim Adams officiating, followed by a reception at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Casper Humane Society. Cremation arrangements under the direction of the Newcomer Funeral Home.
