Vernon E. "Little Vern" Davis
Vernon Eward "Little Vern" Davis was born to Vernon and Doris (Smith) Davis on June 15, 1931 in Callaway, NE. He died November 15, 2014 Casper, WY following a massive heart attack on November 9th.
The Davis family farmed in Nebraska for several years, eventually moving to the Casper area in about 1940. He attended Willard Elementary and Natrona High School in Casper. His career included oilfield work (Geolograph), owning his own filling station (Mobil), and sheet metal work (Buck Fisher Sheet Metal and Tim Force Tin Shop), after which he spent 45 years playing and singing his "Champagne Country" music throughout the U.S. and Canada. Little Vern and his wife, Rita played their music for 28 consecutive summers at the Red Trail Campground in Medora, ND and entertained in winter months at the Senior Center and at many of the Assisted Living Centers in Casper. In addition to performing many of the old-time country music favorites, Vern also wrote many songs and made recordings of fourteen of them during the course of his music career.
In 1949, he married Darline Bittleston and they had three children: Verline, Dave and Doris. In 1980, Vern met and married the love of his life, Rita (Kuntz) Davis.
Vern was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Jeanne (Davis) Street and brother Jerry Davis.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rita, his three children K. Verline Davis-Sheldon and husband, Martin, Dave A. Davis, and Doris A. (Davis) Powers and husband Don. Vern is also survived by 9 grandchildren: Larry D. Forsberg and Laura G. (Forsberg) Conrad; Daviena (Davis) Schauer; Dawn (Davis) Shoemaker; LeAnne (Davis) Prachasaisoradej, Heather Davis, Christopher Davis, John A. Powers and Jason A. Powers; 15 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. He is also survived by one sister, Gaylene (Davis) Kennedy and husband, Dale and one sister-in-law, Lenora (Casebolt) Davis.

A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held on Monday, January 12, 2015 beginning at 2:30 pm until 4:30 pm. The event will be in the ballroom at the Casper Elks' Lodge,108 E. 7th Street,Casper, WY 82601, there is handicap access available through the elevator in the alley.
