Verna R. Florea, 85, of Casper Wyoming passed away at Wyoming Medical Center on October 13th 2010.
She was born in Garden City, MN. on January 29th 1925, the daughter of Elijah A. and Lillian R. Dobson Chase. Verna lived the majority of her early life in Webster County Iowa. She was the oldest of eight children, Virvel (Rosemary) Chase of Pahrump, NV, Velma (Don deceased) Castenson of Dayton, IA, Vearl (Marilyn) Chase of Oxnard, CA, Vera (Robert) Hrabak of Topeka, KS, Vivian (Russ) Jacobson, of Norman, OK, and Vernon (Merna) Chase of Lincoln, CA. Verna was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Victor Chase, Ojai, CA.
She married Leonard Florea in July of 1946, they divorced in July 1988. Verna was mother of five children, Rita J. (Jerry) Smith, of Casper, WY, S. Dean (Kandy) Florea of Boise, ID, Gail R. (Gary) Hilzer of Des Moines, IA, Deborah S. (Al) Eubanks of Weatherford, OK, Ginger R. (Harold) Cummins of Otho IA. She was the grandmother of 23, great grandmother of 52 and great great grandmother of 10, and was preceded in death by two great grandchildren.
Verna resided in the Oxnard California area for several years before relocating to the Webster County area of Iowa where she and her husband purchased a café in Dayton, Iowa in 1975. They relocated to Casper Wyoming in 1983 where she lived out the rest of her life. She enjoyed her volunteer work at the Central Wyoming Senior Center where she also attended many dances and parties and vounteered over 1718 hours doing data entry work. She was known for her ability to decipher all the names on sign in sheets that no one else could read. She will be remembered for her sence of humor and the laughter she brought to all at the Senior Center. She resided at the Skyline Towers for 22 years where she had many friends. During the 22 years she helped many residents and helped with many activities. She enjoyed traveling to see her many children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. She enjoyed her yearly brothers and sisters reunions.
She was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother and aunt and was loved by one and all.
She touched more lives than she ever realized.
SHE WILL BE TRULY MISSED.
