Obituary
Verda L. Taylor, 72, of Casper, passed away May 27, 2009 at her home after a year long illness of Cancer.
She was born July 15, 1936 in Williston, North Dakota, the daughter of Harry and Laura Hancock Fossum. Verda was united in marriage to Leland D. Taylor May 6, 1954 in Williston, North Dakota. They moved to Casper in 1958. She was a member of the Maverick Square Dance Club for over 20 years, a lifetime member of the Oil Capital Auto Club and a member of the Casper Gem and Mineral Club. Verda loved to fish and camp, especially at West Ten Sleep Lake, She loved to go for drives to the outback country in Wyoming. Mr. and Mrs. Taylor lived in Arizona the last eleven winters where they drove back roads and toured mines and ghost towns and camped in the desert near Quartzsite and Yuma, AZ and hunted for rocks and artifacts. She was a 30 year member of the Neighborhood Girls Coffee Club. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Leland, 2 sons, Ricky(Tina) of Everett, WA, Mark(Cathy) of Evergreen, CO, 2 daughters, Kimberly(Jim) Prosinski of Casper, WY and Lori(Ernest) Nicholas of Cedar Rapids, IA. There are 9 grandchildren, Christie(Bill) Huther, Jennifer Taylor, Ashley Spurlin, Christopher(Katie) Spurlin, Adam(Michelle) Nicholas, Aaron Nicholas, Andrew( Kiana) Nicholas, Denra Taylor and Haley Taylor. There are 6 great grandchildren, Gavin Kinniburgh-Spurlin, Logan Huther, Colin Taylor, Dylan Huther, Kaylee Nicholas and Austyn Nicholas. One brother, Verlin Fossum of Williston, ND. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Bryce and a sister in law, Ann Fossum.
Memorial services will be Tuesday, June 2, 2009, 1:00 PM at Highland Park Community Church with Pastor Tami Rudkin officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the donors choice. Arrangements under the direction of Newcomer Funeral Home.
