Tom Aurelius, 77, of Casper, Wyoming died on Monday December 24, 2012, at his home in Meadow Acres, east of Casper.
He was born in Denver, Colorado on October 9, 1935. He graduated from East Denver High School in 1954 and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Tom spent the majority of his professional career in the oil fields of Wyoming, the West, and around the world. He worked on drilling rigs, supervising pipeline construction, and engineering and supervising the building of large compressor stations and gas processing plants. He loved the work as it was outdoors. He never wanted to sit at a desk and was lucky enough that he never had to. During the 1970's he and his wife owned and operated the United Van Lines agency in Casper.
He was an avid big game hunter and supporter of gun rights. He enjoyed his fall trips to various parts of Wyoming and Canada to hunt antelope, deer, elk and bear. He had many trophy animals. Tom and his family spent many winter weekends snowmobiling on Casper Mountain and in the summer he and Judy spent many days on Pathfinder Lake in their boat fishing. He also served as an umpire in the Casper Babe Ruth baseball League for many years. Following retirement, Tom enjoyed his time with the Golden K Kiwanis Club, driving for Meals on Wheels and his work on the CATC board.
There will be a gathering of family and friends at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday December 29th at the Casper Petroleum Club.
