Timothy Arthur Oler

September 17, 1944 — December 17, 2023

Timothy Arthur Oler, 79, battled dementia for many years and on December 20, 2023, he passed on to be with God in heaven.

He was born in Casper, WY to the late Lloyd and Olive Oler on September 17, 1944. As a young child, Tim found his passion and life's purpose when his parents opened Casper Motorcycle Sales, one of the first motorcycle dealerships in Wyoming. He soon discovered his natural ability to ride and work on anything with two wheels. The shop was a motorcycle haven for Tim and many of the youngsters in the neighborhood. He cultivated lifelong friendships while traveling in Wyoming and nearby states to compete in all kinds of motorcycle races and events. Tim is often remembered as the "King of the Hill". Legend has it he would conquer the most treacherous of hillsides by literally flying over the peak on the way up, only to turn around and amaze onlookers by leap flying his way back down.

Tim graduated from Natrona County High School in 1963 and briefly attended Casper College. He married Sylvia Breikjern in 1965 and they started a family while he continued to work for his father, mastering his mechanical skills. In 1972, he realized his dream to run his own motorcycle dealership when he and his wife opened European Cycle Village in downtown Casper with only five BSA motorcycles to sell. They quickly added the Triumph, Rickman and Montessa brands to their inventory.

Tim and Sylvia built their permanent location "on the hill" on CY Avenue in 1975. Over 25 years, they ran a successful business expanding to sell a multitude of power sports brands, including Kawasaki,Suzuki, Yamaha, Husqvarna, Ducati and many others. In recognition of their successes, they were invited to travel the world, visiting several motorcycle factories in England, Sweden and Japan. Tim's four children grew up working in the family business where he instilled upon them a staunch work ethic, as well as his passion for the industry. Tim's dedication to the industry provided years of service for the local motorcycle community. In 1997 Tim and Sylvia sold European Cycle Village. In his retirement, Tim continued to work on motorcycles, specializing in suspension technology.

Tim was a lifelong motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed riding well into his 70's. He was an avid collector and over the years he accumulated an impressive museum of his favorite motorcycles, including the 1962 Triumph dragster his dad, Lloyd, custom-built for him. The bike was so fast he was able to compete in the drag races at the Casper Airport racing against cars. He took pride watching his children and grandchildren follow in his footsteps pursuing hobbies and careers in the industry he loved so dearly.

Tim was preceded in death by his parents and sister Nancy Ranes. He is survived by his four children Jeff Oler (Tracy) of Pendleton, IN, Debbie Shedden (Wes) of Casper, WY, Jewely Oler of Lakewood, CO, and Jon Oler (Heather) of Mooresville, NC; their mother Sylvia Oler of Casper, WY; 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
