Thomas E. Jewett, 65, of Casper passed away June 19, 2009 unexpectedly. As his young
granddaughter said, "God must have needed something fixed in heaven."
Tom was born May 12, 1944 in Flandreau South Dakota, the son of Lovell and Marshall Jewett. He was a graduate of Flandreau High School in 1962, and of South Dakota State University with a degree in Agricultural Engineering in 1966. He was also a member of the SDSU football team.
He worked for the Natural Resource Conservation Service from 1966 until his retirement in 2004. He retired as the Head State Conservationist of the state of North Dakota. During his career, he worked in Minnesota, Rhode Island, Michigan, South Dakota, Wyoming and North Dakota.
Tom married June Bergh in Hallock, Minnesota on December 28, 1967. They were married for 41 years. They raised their three children with love and compassion. His pride and joy the last eleven years was spending time with his grandchildren. He spent his free time supporting them at their sporting events and school activities. He was also an avid crafts man and always had a project he was working on.
Survivors include his wife; June, a son Kevin and his wife Cyndi and their daughters Emma and Chloe of Seattle Washington. His two daughters, both from Casper: Janna Rone and her husband Marvin and their two children Ellie and Drew; and Beth Williams and her husband Tony and their two daughters Emilie and Haylie. He is also survived by his mother-in-law Elsie Bergh from Hallock. His 5 brothers: Bob Jewett of Portland, TN, Roger and Patti Jewett of Reno, NV, Jim and Diane Jewett of Tea, SD, Randy and Marianne Jewett of Garden Grove, CA, and his sister Marci Duncan of Mankato, MN. Other survivors include numerous beloved nieces and nephews across the country.
He was preceded in death by his grandson, Anthony Williams, his parents Marshall and
Lovell Jewett, his sister Janet, and his father-in-law Elmore Bergh.
F funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 24th at 10:00 am at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Casper with Pastor Mike Struck officiating. Interment will be following the
service at Highland Park Cemetery. Luncheon will be at the church after the interment.
The viewing will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home for all family and friends on Tuesday, June 23rd from 6 to 7 pm.
