Thomas Donald "Don" Dodds, 97 of Casper died Saturday August 6, at the Wyoming Medical Center.
Services will be held Friday, August 12 at 10:30 am at the Newcomer Family Funeral Home 710 East Second Street. Father Michael Carr from St. Anthony's Catholic Church will officiate. Viewing will be Thursday August 11, from 4 to 8 pm at the Funeral Home. Burial will be at Highland cemetery in Casper.
Mr. Dodds was born May 31, 1908 in Casper, to Wyoming pioneers Robert J. and Deborah H. Shea Dodds.
He was raised on the UC and FL ranches and received his education in Casper. As a young man he worked several years at the Standard Refinery. In 1926 he returned to the family homesteads in the poison spider area to start in the sheep ranching business. On September 23, 1935 he married Vera C. Weckwerth in Basin Wyoming. On May 20, 1940 their son Donald T. was born.
He was a master at raising sheep and a steward of the land and loved the animals on the land. He was always striving for the better. He was a member of the Wyoming Farm Bureau and the Natrona County Volunteer Firefighters. He was also a member of the Natrona County Pioneer Association.
He is survived by his son Donald T. of the Family Ranch and several Nephews and Nieces. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Vera, his parents, a brother Robert, Sister Alice, and brother Vernon as well as Nephews and a Niece.
