Thomas Lee 'Tom' Carlton
A memorial service for Casper resident "Tom" Carlton, 59, will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday April 20, at the First Presbyterian Church. He died April 8, 2013 at his home in Casper from a heart attack.
He was born June 15, 1953 in Casper Wyoming to James L. and Nina S. Carlton, the second of four boys.
Tom grew up in Casper, graduated from Kelly Walsh High School in 1971 and attended Casper College for a short time where he studied petroleum engineering. Shortly thereafter he got his first job with Sperry Sun Oil Company which was the start to him becoming a Directional Driller; this became his career for the next 40 years. His job gave him the opportunity to travel all over the world from the Middle East, South America, and Australia, well as many places across the United States.
As a child Tom was passionate about baseball and music. As the years went by the baseball faded but the music always remained. He was in his first band in high school called Lite and later was a member of Babomba as their drummer. He always carried a special fondness for his fellow band members and still jammed with them whenever he had the opportunity. He was a member of the Wyoming Blues and Jazz Society and frequently played drums at the Lazy Eight jam sessions on Saturday night.
Survivors include his two sons Eric and Chad Carlton, three brothers Jim and John Carlton of Casper and Bill Carlton of Boulder, CO, six nieces and nephews, and four great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Jim and Nina Carlton.
There will be a wake immediately following the memorial service at the Parkway Plaza Saturday April 20, everyone is welcome.
