Thomas Myron Adams was born May 27, 1943 to Dolphus "Doc" Adams and Leona (McGeough) Adams in Hastings, Nebraska. He passed away in Casper, Wyoming September 24, 2017 after a hard-fought 4 year battle with cancer.
His family moved from Nebraska to Los Angeles, CA when he was a small child. Tom began working in the family business, as a carpenter, as a young boy alongside his father and brothers. He built the apartment buildings his family lived in; many skyscrapers and landmarks in the Los Angeles area and St. Paul area. He later moved to Wyoming and built and remodeled many homes in the Casper area under his business, Casper Construction. He and Bette also owned What's In Store in Casper from 1987 to 2016. Many people will remember seeing them at garage sales and auctions finding treasures for the store.
Tom met the love of his life, Bette Schrodt while she was walking her dog. Tom would take Bette to the "submarine races" on their dates, or they would go roller skating and he would pick her up when she fell down (she fell a lot). They quickly fell in love and were married November 10, 1962. They would have been married 55 years this November. They had a rare and beautiful marriage.
Tom was adventurous and loved to travel. He and Bette travelled to many countries and around most of the United States. Tom also loved to share his passion for traveling and taking adventures. He would take family members, friends, and friends of their children to see new places in little towns around Wyoming. He enjoyed camping, fishing or taking his mother-in-law on a dream trips to Germany. Tom was also known for his great sense of humor. He always joked and kidded with everyone to see them smile or to start a water fight that he usually won. Most of his family remember his "snipe hunts".
Tom was preceeded in death by his parents, 3 brothers; Mike, Merrill, and John Adams, his sister Melva "Jean" Schlick, several nieces and nephews, and his grandson-in-law, Kyle Jacobs.
Tom is survived by his wife, Bette (Schrodt) Adams, his 3 children, Elizabeth "Susie" Reed (Wayne), Cindy Fuller (Ashley), Edward Adams (Kristie); his nephew, Bill Roddy, his grandchildren, Shawn Reed (Danielle), Shayna Jacobs, Danielle, Jarred & Cameron Fuller, Daniel and Lance Adams; his great-grandson, Jackson Jacobs, his sisters, Peggy Fulgenzi, LaVeda Roddy; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also a great friend and father figure to many.
As per Tom's request, there will be no funeral services. A celebration of life will be held on his birthday, May 27, 2018.
At the family's request, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Angel Foundation or Wyoming Foundation for Cancer Care, both at 6501 East Second Street, Casper, WY 82609.
