Terry passed away suddenly July 29, 2014, at her home, with her faithful companion Homer at her side. She was 60. Newcomer Funeral Home in Casper, Wyoming has been entrusted with arrangements.
Memorial services will be held on Monday August 4, 2014 in the Newcomer Funeral Home Chapel at 1:00pm. Interment will immediately follow at Highland Cemetery.
Terry was born in Longmont, Colorado on December 4, 1953 to Howard and Joyce (Reynolds) Swift. She attended elementary and junior high schools in Casper, and graduated from Natrona County School in 1972.
July 29, 1971, Terry came across the likes of Frank Selby of Casper, and they have been hand in hand and heart to heart every moment since. They were united in marriage in Casper, Wyoming, where they made their home with two daughters; Rebecca and Stephanie.
Terry was a registered nurse at the time of her death. She waited to pursue her passion for becoming a nurse until her daughters had left home, so she graduated from the nursing program at Casper College in May of 1997. During her career, she cared for the terminally ill, mentally ill, and patients entering the journey of rehabilitation. Those close to her say that she was a very compassionate and loving nurse long before she actually achieved her degree.
Terry was an accomplished seamstress. She created beautiful wedding gowns, brides maids dresses, prom dresses, and had started dabbling in quilting. She was also quite skilled at Barbie and Ken clothes for her girls when they were young.
Terry faithfully and emphatically supported her daughters and husband as they participated in organizational bodies of the Masonic Family. Terry served as Guardian of Bethel #28 of Casper, Wyoming; and held the office of Wyoming Grand Bethel First Messenger, for the International Order of Job's Daughters. Her most recent moment of pride came as her husband, Frank began his passage to becoming Potentate, an honor which they would celebrate together in 2018.
Terry enjoyed her grandchildren more than anything in the world. They share many memories of ice cream, parades, movies and all-night conversations. She was also a loyal friend and sister. She very much enjoyed special lunches, and a good afternoon of scrabble.
Terry met many people in her life. Most loved her. She was honest, witty, snappy and had a gut-splitting sense of humor. She was also very caring, compassionate, understanding and patient. No door ever remained as open as hers.
Everyone should be so blessed as to have shared time with a soul as beautiful as Terry's. She will be deeply missed by her loving husband Frank of Casper; two daughters, Becci (Jesse) Sutphin of Casper and Stephanie (Tom) Biffle of Glenrock, WY; one sister, Bev (Vince) Lukowiak of Casper; six grandchildren, Danny Brooks, Alyssa Biffle, Stephanie Sutphin, Miriam Sutphin, Madison Sutphin and Kamri Biffle; two brothers in law, Randy DeKlyen (Seattle, WA) and Kenneth Cole (Phoenix, AZ), her most faithful companion and friend, Homer; and many devoted nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She is preceded in her heavenly journey by parents Howard and Joyce Swift; step-mother Betty Swift; beloved mother-in-law Mildred Selby; father-in-law Claude R Selby; an infant brother, Edwin; sisters Anne Cole and Bertie DeKlyen; and her affectionate four-legged companion, Randy .
