Sylvia Neville, 97, passed away peacefully on November 7, 2011 at Life Care Center of Casper. Sylvia was born in Pueblo, Colorado to Francisco and Maria.
Sylvia grew up in Huntington Beach, California where she met her future husband, Leo H. Neville, at a ballroom dancing class. They fell in love and were subsequently married in Byron, Wyoming on October 12, 1935. Leo worked in the oilfield throughout the Rocky Mountain Region and Sylvia faithfully followed him as they moved from one city to another during this time, they had two sons. In 1949, they moved to Ramona, California and lived and worked on the Cactus Ranch. After five years, the family moved to Billings, Montana where Leo returned to the oil industry, while in Billings, Leo worked in Canada and the Rocky Mountains. The family then moved to Casper in 1958 and remained happily married and very much in love for 64 years until Leo passed away.
Leo and Sylvia had a passion for ballroom dancing which they shared with friends and young adults. They also enjoyed teaching young people the pleasure of ballroom dancing; many people enjoyed watching them as they danced at: the Elks Club, Shrine Club, Moose Lodge and Casper Petroleum Club. They also performed in the Red Dog Saloon Players for many years. Later in life, Sylvia worked along the side of Leo as they traveled to oilfields throughout the region servicing oilfield pumping jack gear boxes, They performed this work until Leo retired at age 72. Sylvia was always active in St. Patrick's Church throughout her time in Casper. In their retirement years they enjoyed camping and fishing with their camp trailer and visiting relatives in Utah and California, Family was very important to Sylvia and she enjoyed spending time with her five grandchildren. The grandchildren have fond memories of their time with their Nana and enjoying the cookies and Italian dinners that Sylvia loved to prepare.
Sylvia is survived by; her two sons Bart (Pat) Neville and Frank (Rita) Neville; her five grandchildren, Denise (Bryce) Bressler, Trish (Matt) O'Donnell, Jason (Ruthanne) Neville, Brett (Susan) Neville and Andrea (John) Swanson; and nine great grandchildren.
FUNERAL SERVICES: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 10:30 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 400 Country Club Rd, Casper, WY 82609, with Father August Koeune officiating.
