Susan Lenee Doggett passed from this world into the open arms of our Lord on December 5th surrounded by her loving family. She succumbed to the gradual progression of dementia which she was diagnosed with in early 2011.
Born in Casper, Wyoming on February 2, 1950, she was the oldest of four. She attended Casper schools and graduated from Natrona County High School in 1968 and then continued her studies at Casper College.
Susan began working as a telephone operator for Mountain Bell during high school and continued for several years after graduating. She also worked as a salesperson for Plains Furniture and Rocky Mountain Carpeting and ending her professional career as a licensed insurance agent for Hilltop Insurance Agency. Susan was a member of Job's Daughters, Bethel 28, and became Honored Queen in January 26, 1968.
She is the proud mother of Anthony (Tony) King of Casper, Wyoming. She was a devoted and loving mother and enjoyed watching Tony grow into the wonderful son and father he is today.
Susan married the love of her life, Jerry Doggett, on August 28, 1992, in Casper and began her passion of being a dedicated homemaker. She was an outstanding cook and enjoyed entertaining and cooking 'gourmet comfort food' for her husband, family and guests. She also assisted her husband in building their business, The Pin Company, and was his biggest sales advocate, handing out pins to everyone she met.
As a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, she felt great satisfaction in helping home-bound individuals to whom she could offer a friendly smile and conversation. She performed this service for many years until she was diagnosed.
Through her final years, Susan found relaxation and a sense of peace listening to music and painting. She saw color and beauty in otherwise ordinary rocks and leaves, things often taken for granted. We treasure the many pieces of painted pottery, rocks and other items she shared with us over the years.
Susan is survived by her husband, Jerry and her son, Tony (Kimmie) King and their children, Alexis and Aliana; her mother, Ardelle K. Martin; her sisters, Debora (Steve) Dexter, Kelly (Gene) Hunt, Amy (Simon) Davies; 3 nephews; 2 nieces. She is also survived by Jerry's children and their families, Joseph (Robin) Doggett, Jared (Urs) Doggett, Jennifer (Michael) Walker, Shelley (Robert) Dunning, and Anne (Leigh) Sorrells. She was preceded in death by her father, Hugh R. Martin, and maternal and paternal grandparents.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 10, 2015, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Wyoming Dementia Care at 1831 E 4th St, P O Box 1493, Casper, WY, 82602.
