Sue Stewart died at Central Wyoming Hospice on Monday, September 29, 2014 from complications due to a fall a few weeks earlier.
Susan Mary Stewart was born to long-time Casper residents, Bob and Mary Galley on February 2, 1948. She attended St. Anthony's School and graduated from NCHS in 1966. She earned a degree in education at Kearney State College and returned to Wyoming to teach for several years in Big Piney. She came back to Casper to teach at Mountain View Elementary School where she spent the balance of her 36 year teaching career.
Through a series of circumstances Sue was reunited with Steve Stewart, a life long family friend (and Sue's childhood crush) and they were married in 1978. They enjoyed traveling, camping, hunting, golf, occasional trips to Deadwood, SD and socializing with friends and family.
Sue always seemed to be the "bright light in the room" and was always more concerned about those around her and those she knew than about herself.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband Steve; her son Ryan of Lander, WY; brothers, Richard Galley, DVM of Willow Park, TX, Steve Galley of Green River, WY, Tom Galley of Lake Travis, TX; and life-long best friend Mary Sue (Stewart) Simpson of Indio, CA along with many nieces, nephews, etc.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Sue's name to Central Wyoming Hospice or to Saint Anthony's Tri-Parish School.
A Funeral Mass, followed by inurnment at Highland Cemetery and a reception back at the church is scheduled at Our Lady of Fatima Church at 10:00AM Monday October 6, 2014.
