Sue L. Hayes

March 7, 1934 — March 15, 2015

Sue L. Hayes, loving wife and mother, passed away on March 15, 2015 after a brief illness.

Sue was born in Kendrick OK. Her family lived in Oklahoma, California, and during wartime, in Orange TX where her father built Liberty ships. After the war, the family returned to Ventura, CA where Sue graduated from Ventura high school in 1952. She worked for the Navy at Port Hueneme, CA. After her fathers death, the family returned to Oklahoma and settled in Luther. Sue went to work for Magnolia Petroleum Company in Oklahoma City. Soon thereafter, she married her husband of 57 years Newcomb. Sue and Newcomb left Oklahoma and resided in Williston, ND, Craig CO, Casper, WY, Gillette, WY, and then spent 16 years in Soldotna and Anchorage, AK. The family returned to Casper in 1978. Sue was avid bridge player and attained Life Master status. She was the president of the Casper Duplicate Bridge Club and hosted the annual Oil City Sectional Bridge Tournament. In the 1980s, Sue was active in the yearly Wildcatters golf tournament, along with assorted bridge and social organizations. Sue had the unique talent of walking into a room full of 10 strangers and coming out with 10 new friends.

Everyone is invited to celebrate Sue's life on April 11, 2015 at the Casper Petroleum Club located at 1301 Wilkins Circle, Casper, WY from 2.00pm to 5.00pm.

Sue is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Pearl Reeder, her bother, Clyde Reeder Jr., and her sister, Gwendolyn Shin. Sue is survived by her husband, Newcomb Hayes, her son, Steven Hayes, her nephew, Charles Shinn, and her two great nephews, Rob and John Shin.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations, in Sue's name, to the Salvation Army and/or your local Humane Society.
