Steve Jay Guthrie, born September 23, 1951 in Douglas, Wyoming passed peacefully in his sleep at his home in Casper, Wyoming on July 7, 2015.
Steve was born in Douglas, Wyoming the youngest of five to Myrtle Guthrie. He joined the Marine Corps in 1969 where he finished his GED studying accounting, he was honorably discharged in 1973, after which he worked hard on oil rigs and truck driving to support his family but, was never too busy for his wife, kids and grandkids and was always willing to lend a helping hand to whoever needed it.
He loved to joke and laugh with his wife that he adored while they would play games, spend quality time with his children whether it was fishing, wrestling on the living room floor or going driving down a random dirt road just to find out where it popped out at. He had a very large and loving presence with the few words that he spoke. He will be forever missed by all of the people that knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by many loved ones along the way. His mother, Myrtle Deveda (Phillips) Guthrie; his older brother, Ron Guthrie; mother-in-law Amy (Andrews) Henry; father-in-law, Dalton Kent "Bud" Andrews; father-in-law, Glenn Leroy Henry; brothers-in-law, Joe Smith and Jerry Valentine
Steve is survived by his wife of 34 years, Helen Guthrie; his two children, Trish Lee Reeb (Chris York) and Shaun Henry Guthrie (Joy); eight grandchildren, Austin Blade Reeb, Jennifer Rose Guthrie, Emma Kay Guthrie, Preston Gage York, Hannah Marie Guthrie, Alyssa May York, Evan Jay Guthrie and Zachary Leroy Guthrie; two brothers, Stan Guthrie and family and Dale Guthrie and family; sister Connie (Guthrie) Cropsey and family; mother-in-law, Ruth Andrews; sisters-in-law, Leora Andrews and family, Susan (Handley) McQueary and family, Vivian Smith and family and all the countless people he has touched in his life that was cut far too short.
A memorial Service will be held 9:30 am, Friday July 17, 2015 at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery, with Reverend Dan Odell officiating. Following the service a reception will be held at North Casper Clubhouse, 1002 East L Street
