Sherelene "Shag" Compton 63 of Casper, passed away on Monday June 6, 2016.
She was born to Sherel Walt and Darlene Marie McKinzie, June 30, 1952, in Casper, WY. Shag attended Natrona County High School and later received an Associate's degree from Casper College in 1974.
Shag had two sons, Gary D. Bowden of Casper and Kelly (Joe) J. Bowden of Wheatland, WY. After a brief career as an LPN working at Memorial Hospital of Natrona County, Shag decided to pursue other career paths in order to spend more time with her sons.
Shag was a bookkeeper for Albertsons and later moved to cashier because she enjoyed interacting with customers. She retired in July of 2015 after 30 years of service. Shag made contributions to several charities throughout her life. And much to her oldest son Gary's dismay and her youngest son Joe's delight, she was a diehard Dallas Cowboy fan.
Shag was proceeded in death by her father Sherel and nephew Michael L. Bowden. She is survived by her mother Darlene, her two sons Gary and Joe, her sister Ruthie Cann and brothers Tom and Mac McKinzie. She is also survived by four grandchildren and two great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Shag's name to the Casper Humane Society.
Services will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home.
