Sharon Elizabeth Dolan was born in Clinton Missouri on September 14, 1950, to James Francis and Anna Pauline Pearcy. Sharon was a 1968 graduate of Clinton High School.
Some years later she moved to Rock Springs Wyoming where she attended Western Wyoming Community College to study geology and anthropology. She went on several class excursions to Easter Island, Peru, Guatemala, as well as a ten-day trip down the Amazon.

Being an accomplished artist she had works featured in libraries in Rock Springs and celebrated a retrospective exhibit of her work at The Nicolaysian Museum in Casper last year. Her most recent artwork was drawing images of the hand forming the shapes of the manual syllabary in Japanese Sign Language for inclusion in scholarly publications.
