Shannon L. Brummund, 55, was born as the fourth child to James H. and Verna E. Herold in Casper, Wyoming. Shannon passed away on February 8th 2012 in her home in Casper.
Shannon was raised and attended grade school and high school in Casper. She graduated from Casper College and transferred to the University of Wyoming in the nursing program. On March 11th 1980 she married Frank Brummund (deceased) and they had two sons, Shawn Brummund and James Brummund (wife Amanda and daughters Haylei and Finley), both residing in Casper. Frank Brummund was a mining surveyor and the family resided for a time in Ely, Nevada before moving back to Casper.
Shannon is one of eight children in the Herold family. She is survived by her Father James Herold and his wife Jean, brother James P. Herold (wife Esther and family) of Littleton, Colorado; sister-in-law Pamela and family (survivors of her brother Hank); sister Twyla Christensen and family (widow of Mark); sister Angela Chimney (husband Pete) of The Woodlands, Texas; brother Brendan "Barry" Herold (and family) of Honolulu, Hawaii; and sister Rita Rae Nixon (husband Walter and family) of Gallatin Gateway, Montana. She is predeceased by her mother Verna; sister Brigid Herold of Casper, and brother Henry "Hank" Herold of Huntington Beach, California. She is also survived by a very special family friend Bob Herbort.
She was a active member of Our Lady of Fatima Circle. Shannon loved all animals having had numerous dogs and cats in her life over the years. She had a very fond spot in her heart for horses and birds. She especially liked to spend time up on Casper Mountain at the family cabin with Shawn and James' dogs Zo-E and Cheyenne. Shannon was always in attendance at Shawn's and James' softball games during the summer season.
Visitation for Shannon Brummund will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, 710 E 2nd St., Casper, Wyoming on Wednesday February 15th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by the saying of a rosary. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Thursday, February 16th, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 1401 CY Avenue, Casper, Wyoming. Inurnment will occur after the Mass at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 7430 West Yellowstone Highway, Casper, Wyoming.
