Scott Victor Kertson, 62, from Casper, Wyoming, passed away on May 31, 2012 at the Wyoming Medical Center after a brief illness.
He was born on January 2, 1950 in Thermopolis, Wyoming to Karl and Betty (Rickman) Kertson. He married Lynnette O'Conners on June 20, 1980 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and had a daughter, Casandra, November 3, 1985. He served in the United States Marine Corp and Reserves from 1969 to 1975 where he received the following: National Defense Services Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 1 star, Vietnam Campaign Medal with device, Rifle Marksmanship Badge and Combat Action Ribbon.
In his lifetime he worked numerous occupations including mechanic, truck driver and factory worker. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, crocheting and computers.
He is survived by his wife, daughter of Cheyenne, his parents, his siblings Rick (Jolene) Kertson of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Karla (Victor) Ohrmund of Thermopolis, Della (Robert) Smith of Rawlings and a large extended family.
A public viewing will be held on Monday, June 4, 2012 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Newcomer Funeral Home. Services are scheduled for Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home and officiated by Jim Garbutt. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Oregon Trail State Veterans Cemetery. Pallbearers are Kenneth Hall, Raye Gruell, Rick Kertson, Victor Ohrmund and Robert Smith.
A celebration of life and meal will follow at the VFW at 1800 Bryan Stock Trail.
