Santiaga "Sandy" Antunes Palato died Wednesday, March 14, 2007 after prolonged illness.
Funeral services for Mrs. Palato will be 10 a.m., Monday, March 19, 2007 at Newcomer Family Funeral Home. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Sunday, March 18, 2007 at the funeral home with a Rosary Service to begin at 7:30 p.m.
She was born June 24, 1922 in Brush, Colo., the daughter of Selso and Jovita (Esparza) Antunes.
On Dec. 4, 1939 she married James Mauricio Paloato at St. Rose Church in Torringtion, WY. They moved to Casper in 1954 and owned and ran the Mexico Cafe and later the Los Morenitas Cafe. She also worked at the Ramada Inn, Crude Oil, and Natrona County Hospital.
Sandy was a devoted wife, mother grandmother, and friend. She loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her friends at St. Anthony's Manor. Sandy was known for always being happy and smiling. She loved to dance, cook, go camping, riding on a boat, and listening to her Mexican music.
She was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church.
She is survived by two brothers and two sisters, Manuel Antunes, Pete Antunes, and Lucy Rodrigues, all of Nampa, ID, and Gennie Antunes of Dallas, TX; two sons, Jesus Palato and wife, Jonell of Casper, John Palato and wife, Sue of Rawlins; three daughters, Delores Young and husband, Everett of Gasquet, CA, Cora Page and husband, Robert of Casper, Rita Palato and companion, Erica Mendoza of Casper, 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Jess and Jessie Antunes, her husband, two sons, James Jr. and Frank Palato, five infants, and her great-granddaughter, Corinna Sausedo.
