Sam Calhoun, age 97, was born to David and Anna (Anderson) Colquhoun on November 11, 1918 in Temvik, North Dakota. He was raised and attended school in Temvik and left home at an early age to begin working with the Civilian Conservation Corps, to assist his family during the Depression.

To be closer to his sister, Sam then moved to Brainerd, Minnesota and began his first job as a bellhop at the Brainerd Hotel. He met Arlene Dybvik at that time and they were married in Webster, South Dakota in 1939. With his wife and son, he then moved to Hibbing, Minnesota where he worked in the iron ore mines; at which time he also welcomed a new daughter.

In 1948, he joined his brother in Wyoming and was employed for Noble Drilling in the oilfields. His family traveled by train to join him and within a short time he was offered a job with Continental Oil Company when the oil boom began in Linch, Wyoming. He was one of the first families to settle in Linch. Thereafter, in 1958, their second daughter was born. He retired as Production Foreman in 1983.

He was married to Margueritte Hull in 1983 in Casper. They lived in Apache Junction, AZ during the winter months.

Sam moved to Kaycee, WY in 2012, living at the Meike Bunkhouse (Kaycee Senior Housing). He passed away while living in Apache Junction.

He always enjoyed being with people and his favorite past time in later years was playing cards with his friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Arlene (Tudie) in 1970 and by his wife Marqueritte in 2007. He is survived by his son, David (Martha) of Summerville, GA, daughter Diane (Dwayne) of Kaycee, WY, and daughter Julie (Dave) of Elko, NV. He was blessed with 8 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
