Mrs. Ruth M. Alvary's passing was peacefully on Monday, March 12, 2007 at Central Wyoming Hospice after a 20 year battle with cancer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 16, 2007 at Newcomer Family Funeral Home, 710 East Second. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Interment will be in Bakersfield, CA.
She was born October 1, 1927 in Bakersfield, CA. She was a lifetime member of the Catholic church and attended Catholic school.
Ruth worked and raised her family in Bakersfield. In 2000, she moved to Casper to be with her daughter and continue more intensive cancer treatment at The Wyoming Cancer Center (Rocky Mountain Oncology).
Ruth embraced her Sicilian heritage and enjoyed celebrating the customs and preparing cuisines from Sicily. She was also very creative in crocheting. She worked for The League of Women Voters and volunteered for the Republican party while she was in California. In her later years, Bingo was her favorite pass time.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carlo and Antonia Magno; three brothers, Manueli, Vincent, Jesse; one sister, Mary; her husband, Charlie; and one son, Joey. She is survived by her children, Arthur and Loretta and son-in-law, Justin.
Memorial contributions in Ruth's name may be given to Central Wyoming Hospice, 319 S. Wilson, Casper, WY 82601. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude for the care and support from all of Ruth's health care providers.
