Roy Delmar Seifert, 85, of Casper, passed away December 23, 2009 at Poplar Living Center, where he had been transferred the day before from the Transitions Unit at the Wyoming Medical Center. Mr. Seifert was born in Denver, CO on March 9, 1924, the son of William Valentine and Minerva A. Newman Seifert. He graduated from Littleton High School in Littleton, CO in 1942. He was united in marriage to Mary Lena Smith on January 20, 1951 in Denver, CO. She preceded him in death on March 20, 2009.
Mr. Seifert began his professional career as a letter carrier with the U.S. Postal Service in Denver, CO. The family moved to Ogden, UT in 1957, where Roy was then employed at Hill Air Force Base as an Aircraft Quality Control Inspector. In 1962, Mr. Seifert worked on the Minuteman Missile installation at Fairchild AFB in Spokane, WA and at F.E. Warren AFB in Cheyenne, WY. In 1978, he transferred to Boeing Government Operations in Wichita, KS and continued working as an Aircraft Quality Control Inspector until his retirement in 1982. Mr. Seifert worked on all types of military aircraft, including the B-52 Bomber. He loved airplanes and they were a big part of his life.
Mr. and Mrs. Seifert moved to Casper, WY in 2005.
Roy met his wife, Mary, while taking folk dance lessons, and they continued to dance and teach folk dancing into their 70's. Roy was a member of the Edelweiss Dancers in Wichita, Kansas and Roy also taught folk dancing at the Senior Center in Wichita for a number of years. His hobbies also included making things out of wood and traveling.
Roy was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Ogden, UT and Wichita, KS.
Survivors include two daughters, Christine Morales and her husband Michael of Durango, CO, and Karen Trohkimoinen and her husband, John, of Casper, WY, two granddaughters, Kristen and Lauren Trohkimoinen of Casper, WY and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Robert Seifert, and four sisters, Louise Montgomery, Leona White, Verna Rowe and Evelyn Apt.
A joint memorial service for Mr. and Mrs. Seifert in Denver, CO will be announced at a later date.
