Ross Andrew Lachance

November 14, 1950 — March 23, 2021

On March 23, 2021, Ross Andrew "Bob" LaChance, 70, of Casper, left his family and friends to go home to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Born on November 14, 1950 to Dorothy and James LaChance in Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, Ross spent his early life surrounded by family. He was the second of five children: three boys, two girls. In 1958, the family moved to Daly City, California. Ross graduated from Westmoor High School in Daly City in 1968. He attempted a secondary degree in Geology at Skyline Community College in San Bruno, California, but traditional school was not for him. He joined the Air Force and served for 3 years then moved to Casper, Wyoming in 1977, where he joined the prestigious Casper Fire Department. He served on the fire crew for 6 years before moving into inspections. In 1991, he was awarded Outstanding Fire Fighter and Fire Fighter in Blue. He retired from service in 1998. He eventually found his way into his ideal retirement job, golf course groundskeeper. In 1980, Ross met his bride Lindel while skiing at Hogadon. They were married in the winter of 1983 and had 3 daughters.

Ross was the life and light of the party. He always had a joke to tell or story to share and his infectious, genuine smile would brighten the room. He welcomed anyone he met into his family, dubbing the friends of his children "wicked stepsister 1, 2, 3, etc.". Always an adamant supporter of his family and their activities and interests, he would be found cheering on and championing at every game, meet, recital, or concert. He was the king of the dad joke, often responding to his daughters' and grandchildrens' requests to make or do something with a hand flourish and "Poof, you're a (fill in the blank)." He found enjoyment in adventuring on family road trips, camping, hunting, and skiing. Ross loved animals and brought home many a rescue puppy, kitten, and even turtle, if he felt they would have no one else. He loved his news shows and talk radio, cooking shows (frequently attempting to recreate what he had seen), crossword puzzles, and puttering in the garage. Ross was a creative man who designed and helped build the church he and his family attended, Church of the Holy Family. He dabbled in woodworking and painting, loved playing his guitars and would sing an appropriate lyric for everything. He loved and dreamed big.

Ross is survived by his precious wife of 38 years, Lindel, his three daughters, Cailin (Christophe) Blasi, Dana Ellis, and Linden LaChance and his grandchildren: Noah, Hadley, Jonah, Adelynn, Lydia, and Seth; siblings Ginny Assenberg, Herb LaChance, Becky Smith, and Joel (Debbie) LaChance, brother-in law, Scott (Naraa) Faulkner, and beloved nieces and nephews: Scott, Rebecca, James, Eric, Brendan, Breanne, Brady, and Brynley; and numerous other extended family members.

A memorial service lead by Pastor Dave Mondle will be held on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at 1:00 pm at Newcomer. A reception will follow at Church of the Holy Family immediately after the memorial. Ross's ashes will be scattered in Wisconsin, Casper, and "someplace warm (not California)". In his words of send off: "Drive safe. Be safe."
