Rosanne Dungan Rightmire
Rosanne Dungan Rightmire was born on a farm near Litchfield, Nebraska on July 16, 1917 to Bertha (Geisler) and Louis Unick, the youngest of seven children.
She graduated from Kearney High School and from the University of Nebraska at Kearney with a degree in Elementary Education, majoring in Early Childhood Education.
On April 11, 1937 she married Clifford Dungan at her home in Kearney. They moved to McCook, Nebraska, where they lived for ten years before moving to Casper, Wyoming, in 1948. Clifford died three days before their 50th wedding anniversary, in 1987.
After the death of her first husband, she married Milton Rightmire in 1991 who preceded her in death in 1999.
Rosanne taught kindergarten for many years at Jefferson and Manor Height schools. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church. For several years after she retired, she volunteered at Meals on Wheels. In recent years she resided at Meadow Winds Assisted Living Center, before entering Life Care Center in February.
She was best known for her love of entertaining family and friends with wonderful, home-cooked meals. She loved growing flowers, listening to classical music and playing bridge and pinochle. She placed great value on education and insisted that her four children graduate from college. She followed their careers and was very proud of their achievements. Her quick wit, her sense of humor, and kind heart will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her four children: Jim Dungan of Temuco, Chile; Don Dungan of Torrington; Diane Combs of North port, Washington and Casper; and Deborah Fleming of Laramie; five step-children, seven grandchildren, seven great- grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
Services will be held at the Newcomer Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 13, 2009. Memorial gifts can be given to the First Baptist Church for Camp Wyoba scholarships.
