Ronald "Ronnie" Gene Fawcett, age 63 of Casper, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2024 at home with his loving family by his side. Ronnie was born in Denver, Colorado on August 30, 1960. He was raised at the state training school in Lander, Wyoming. He was later transferred to Casper and resided at Nowcap until he started to live with host home families. He was one of the very first athletes in Special Olympics of Wyoming and has competed in bicycling, bowling, cross country skiing, swimming and weightlifting over the years.
Ronald enjoyed listening to music and dancing in his earlier years. He had an ornery streak at times but a great sense of humor. He enjoyed being outside and camping in his later years when he became wheelchair bound. Ronnie will be remembered for many things such as his headphones, batteries, hamburger and French fries, along with his many mugs filled with diet Pepsi or coffee. Ronnie made many friends at Nowcap, Circle C Resources, I-Reach, Independent Opportunities, Advancing Abilities and RCR Inspirations - which it was named after him.
Ronald is survived by his sister, Susan Kollmann and brother-in-law, Jerry Kollmann, and his long-time providers - Jason and Jane Bowman, and his caregivers, Tim Colebert and Dana Wilson, along with the help of RCR Inspirations and their employees.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday June 21, 2024 at 1:00 pm at Newcomer Casper Chapel. A reception will follow at the North Casper Clubhouse.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Central Wyoming Hospice or Special Olympics of Wyoming.
