Ronald Harned

June 11, 1960 — October 17, 2020

Ronald Jay Harned, Jr. Was born on June 11th, 1960, to Kathleen Ethel and Ronald Jay Harned, Sr. In Elgin, Illinois. An only child, he and his parents moved to Casper, Wyoming at a young age, and it was there that he would grow up and forever call his home. Ron passed away on Saturday, October 17th, 2020, after a hard and long-fought battle with COVID19 in the Intensive Care Unit at Medical Center of the Rockies.

Forever a Wyoming boy at heart, Ron participated in rodeo activities throughout his youth and attended Natrona County High School, obtaining his GED in 1978. Shortly after, Ron entered into his lifelong profession as an ironworker, a job which took him all over his beloved country and introduced him to many forever friends over the course of his 42-year career. He felt fortunate to have the opportunity to see so many beautiful places and meet people he would never forget.

Ron had an insatiable sweet tooth and an unquenchable thirst for life, embracing many hobbies and embarking on numerous adventures with family and friends in his 60 well-lived years. He loved all things automotive and had a need for speed, driving him to race stock cars for several years at the Casper Speedway. On many a summer Saturday nights, you'd find him in the driver's seat of #28 "The Ghost," rounding corners and throwing mud into the spectator crowds gathered to watch. Perhaps most notable of all his pastimes, though, was his love for the great outdoors and his passion for hunting, fishing, and camping with his loved ones- a trait he made sure to pass on to his children and grandchildren. If he had to spend time indoors, Ron enjoyed bowling, playing card games, and laughing along with any good comedy show.

A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Ron was incredibly rich with family. Ron married Tamara Michelle Hamre on August 16th, 1980, and together they had two children, Amber and Ronnie. Although they divorced in 2008, they remained friends and Ron was still very much a part of the family he spent 28 years with . Then, on July 29th, 2016, Ron married Karen Ann Daly in Wheatland, Wyoming. Their union blessed Ron not only with a wife to share his life with but also with more children and grandchildren to spoil and love. Although an only child at birth, marriages and friendships made him
a cherished brother to many over the years, and he maintained valued relationships with many cousins, aunts, and uncles across vast miles.
There is no doubt how much Ron loved his family and how much his family loved him. In the weeks of his illness and following his death, happy memories are carrying his loved ones through. Remembering his love of triple chocolate cupcakes and his daughter's baking, seeing pictures of him with his son sharing together in their love of hunting, reminiscing about all the off-road trips he and his wife took on their Razor with their playful black lab, Rambo, and recalling how many Halloweens he drove 15 hours from Chicago just to take his grandchildren trick-or-treating... These memories and so many more define who Ron was and what his family meant to him.

Ron is survived by his wife, Karen Ann Harned; his children, Amber (Michael) Bland and Ronnie (Nicole) Harned, Chandra Leedall, and Monica (Pat) Olson; and his grandchildren, Brooklyn, Brooks, Patton, Kayla (Colten), Kristen (Cody), and Ryun. Ron also leaves behind five great-grandchildren, as well as many brothers and sisters through marriage, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Due to the current pandemic and associated travel risks, services for Ron will not be held at this time, but his family hopes to have a Celebration of Life in June of 2021.
