Rollie Keith Goering

November 20, 1938 — June 20, 2015

Rollie Keith "Butch" Goering passed away June 20, 2015. Rollie was born in Greybull, Wyoming to Roland "Tug" and Aletha Goering on November 20, 1938. He attended several Casper schools and graduated from Natrona County High School in 1956. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy that same year. He attended Naval service schools and achieved the Navy rating as a Nuclear Weaponsman (NW). He climbed to the ranks quickly and became a Petty Officer second class during his 3 year enlistment. He served on the aircraft carrier U. S. S. Ranger. While on board, he traveled the Pacific Ocean and visited many far east ports. After serving his Country, Rollie returned to Casper. He worked at the bentonite plant in Mills, WY where his father Tug also worked as a foreman. In 1964, he joined the City of Casper Fire Department and once again climbed the ranks and became a captain. In 1982, he received the honor of being named Firefighter of the Year. Rollie retired from the fire department in 1984, after 20 years service to his community. As many fireman do, Rollie had a second job. He became an auto body repairman/painter and continued this until his retirement in 1999.

On March 21, 1966 Rollie and Celia "Cece" Galles were married in Casper, Wyoming. They first met at the age of 5 years old. The couple were yearly vacationers in Cancun, Mexico. They enjoyed their condo spending time with family and friends. Rollie was an avid fisherman and loved trolling the waters of Alcova and Pathfinder Lakes as well as Ice and Bank fishing. His other interests were snow skiing, hunting and restoring vintage cars. He rebuilt several Corvettes as well as a Ford Model-T and a 1940 Ford hot rod, both were built from the frame up. Rollie was a passionate Denver Bronco and Wyoming Cowboy fan. He and Celia rarely missed watching or listening to any of their games. His sense of humor, kindness and his willingness to help others will be greatly missed by both family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Tug and Aletha, sisters Bonnie Shafto and Bertie Welch, and Celia's parents Don and Betty Galles.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years Celia; sons, Tom (Corina) of Casper, Steve (Chris) of Highland, Utah; daughters, Susan Leonhart (Dave) of Los Gatos, California & Shannan Farmer Porter of Kingwood Texas; grandchildren, Lindsay Felton, Lexy Goering, Lea Johnson, Nick Goering, Zack Goering, Alyssa Conder, Jake Leonhart and Luke Leonhart; great-grandsons, Carson and Henry Felton, Maximus, Kade and Broderick Johnston.
