Roger William Arndt Jr.

July 26, 1956 — November 23, 2017

Roger William Arndt, Jr. (61) of Casper, WY formerly of Mason City, IA, passed away Thursday, November 23, 2017 at Wyoming Medical Center. He was born July 26, 1956 in Mason City, IA to Roger & Lily Arndt. He married Dianna Marie Girkin on July 18, 1987. Together they raised three children.

Roger is survived by wife: Dianna, daughter: Angie (Jeremy) Hofland, Colfax, IA; and two sons: Michael (Emily) Arndt, Loveland, CO; Josh (Monica Vela) Arndt, Denver, CO; two grandchildren, Noah & Eli Osborne; his niece Kelly Sue (Kyle) Warden of Casper; great niece and nephew Lilyann and Jerrod Warden also of Casper.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, two sisters Linda & Rhonda Arndt and several aunts and uncles.

Roger managed both KFC restaurants when he and Dianna moved to Casper in 1989. He then moved into the sales field in retail and media where he enjoyed meeting new people. He found his true calling in hospitality with corporate sales at the then Holiday Inn on the River. He worked his way into managing the MainStay Suites until his health forced him to retire in 2014.

Through the years Roger was a member of the Masonic Temple, Shriners and Eagles, but the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks held a special place in his heart. He joined the Casper Elks Lodge in 1990 and worked his way through the officer core, becoming Exalted Ruler in 2001 Grand Exalted Ruler District Deputy in 2012 and Wyoming Elks State Association Drug Awareness Chairman 2008-2014 giving the position up begrudgingly due to his failing health. One of Roger's proudest moments in his Elk years was receiving The President's Volunteer Service Award in 2008 from the President's Council on Service and Civic Participation.

Roger found a new leaf in life when he became a member of Highland Park Community Church where he was rebaptized in 2016. He said his purpose in life was to "Make People Happy!" He enjoyed greeting church members at the door, always had a smile on his face and a positive attitude no matter what life threw at him. Even after a recent leg amputation, he was determined to walk the halls of Wyoming Medical Center with Pastor Don spreading a positive message to those needing someone to cheer them up.

Roger loved his family, his huge circle of friends, including his rugby buddies and north end neighbors, his Saturday morning coffee group, and his beloved Iowa Hawkeyes. He touched many people's lives and will be greatly missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to U.S. Renal Care, Attn: Benevolent Fund, 1141 Wilkins Circle, Casper, WY 82601 to help Wyoming dialysis patients with travel and prescription expenses.

A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, January 20th at 11 a.m. at the Casper Elks Lodge.
