Robert Erwin Pattalochi

September 3, 1949 — November 18, 2016

Dr. Robert Pattalochi, D.D.S

Robert (Bob) Pattalochi was born in Casper, WY on September 3, 1949, to William and Alice (Mills) Pattalochi. He passed away on November 18, 2016 in Huron, SD.

After graduating from Natrona County High School in 1968, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wyoming. Bob then attended the University of Iowa (Iowa City) where he entered the College of Dentistry and subsequently earned his Doctor of Dental Science degree in 1976; in addition, Bob was the recipient of the prestigious Alumnus of the Year award in 2006 from the University of Iowa. He began his practice in Casper in July 1976 and continued until his death. Bob always claimed his patients were not only his patients but also his friends; some began and remained with Bob for over thirty-five years.

Dr. Pattalochi was a member of both the Wyoming and American Dental Associations. Dr. Pattalochi's contributions to the Wyoming Dental Association included the Peer Review Committee, the Concerned Dentist Committee, the Legislative Committee and was a member of the Board of Directors. As a member of the Board of Dental Examiners, he was recruited to become an examiner for the Central Regional Dental Testing Service (CRDTS). Dr. Pattalochi served on the Exam Review Committee and chaired that committee from 1990 to 1999 where he served as the president of CRDTS for the years 2001 and 2002. Dr. Pattalochi also served as the chief examiner during many exams.

On a national level Dr. Pattalochi served on the Joint Commission of National Dental Examinations from 1996 through 2000 where he was the vice-chair of the commission in 1999. He was also the Research and Development Committee chair from 1998 through 2000. Dr. Pattalochi was the editor of the newsletter of the American Association of Dental Examiners and served as a consultant from 2000 through 2004. He was a member of the Pierre Fauchard Academy and Fellow of the International College of Dentists. In 2016, the American Dental Association and the Wyoming Dental Association recognized Dr. Pattalochi with his Life Membership.

Bob was previously a member of the Casper Community Planning and Zoning Commission as well as a long time member of both the Casper Kiwanis Club and the Casper Country Club.

Although Bob worked for many years, he managed to balance his career with recreation; in fact, he loved to travel and frequently visited such destinations as Hawaii, Mexico and Key West to mention a few. His joys included fishing, bowling, golfing, skiing and hunting; but above all ranked his "summer home" at Alcova Lake where he was fondly known as "the mayor" at the trailer park. Bob also loved spending time with his children and grandchildren: Sophia and Savannah (Oregon), Grant (Iowa) as well as an expected granddaughter in June (Chicago).

Bob was preceded in death by his father and Mother, Alice and William Pattalochi, as well as a sister, Billie Piel, all of Casper.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy (Thompson) Pattalochi; his two sons Mark Pattalochi (Nicole) of Tualatin, OR and Dr. Jack Pattalochi of Des Moines, IA and a daughter, Dr. Anne Doran (Jackson) of Chicago, IL. Bob is also survived by his sister Judy Izzarelli (Frank) of Casper, WY.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions, 319 South Wilson Street, Casper, WY 82601; Friends of Hogadon, PO Box 2045, Casper, WY 82602.
