Robert (Bob) Lee Hill passed away in Casper on May 25th at the age of 90, a good 90 years of a fulfilled life.
He was born to Emma & R. Lee Hill in Houston, Missouri and graduated from high school in Kansas City, Missouri and attended the University of Kansas and Casper College.He enlisted in the U.S Marine Corp in September 1942 and served in World War II, being honorable discharged as a Sergeant in December 1945.
After being discharged he moved to Casper to live with his father who was the proprietor of the infamous Riverside Club. It was in Casper that he met Shirley Campbell and took her hand in marriage on December 21st, 1946 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church. After their marriage they spent time in Casper working and going to school.In 1947, Bob and Shirley moved to Jackson WY and Bob managed the Log Cabin Bar and from there they moved to Long Beach, CA where he managed the Lucky Horseshoe Bar.Moving back to Casper in 1949, he followed his father's career and owned several establishments in Casper, including the Arcade Bar which he owned with his brother Ted Hill. He built the Alibi Bar in 1956 and sold it in 1971, and later went on to being a co-owner of Oil City Liquors. Upon retiring, he spent his summers in Casper and for the past 33 years wintered at his home in Mesa, AZ. Bob was lifetime member of the Casper Elks Lodge #1353, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife Shirley after 61 years of marriage and his son Mike. He is survived by his children, Bob Hill of Wilson, WY and daughter Cindy Rogers and her husband Mike of Casper, two grandchildren Grant and Lindsie Rogers of Casper, half-sister Norma Vice and half-brothers Richard and Larry Hill.
