Robert Hoeppner

November 30, 1929 — September 3, 2019

Robert Dean "Bob" Hoeppner, 89, passed away peacefully at home Tuesday, September 3, 2019. He was born November 30, 1929 at home on the farm to Herman "Dick" Hoeppner and June (Brubaker) Hoeppner. He married the love of his life Dorothea Jean (Rolland) Hoeppner December 17, 1949. They had five children, Kathryn (Steve) Straight of Gillette, WY, Kristina (Tony) Delgado of Casper, WY, Karen (Rich) Hoeppner of Calico Rock, AR, Robert (Mary) Hoeppner of Cheyenne, WY, and Kari (Tim) Mitchell of Casper, WY.
He is survived by his wife, Dottie; the five children; his brother, Rich (Judy) Hoeppner of Maui, HI; nine grandkids; and 15 great-grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald (Arlene) Hoeppner; sister, Wilhelmina (Kenneth) Schunning; and his parents, Herman and June Hoeppner.
Through the years Bob had several service stations in town, CY and Poplar Standard and Texaco and 12th and Beverly Texaco. He thoroughly enjoyed all of his customers when he ran out to greet them with his always smiling face. Bob worked for the CNW Railroad 41 years and now has three of his children who carried on that tradition.
Bob loved his family above all else but fishing was right up there in the favorite category. He, his son Bob and sons-in-law had grand adventures in the Big Horns and Pinedale catching as many as they could. Betting on the first and biggest fish caught. He was an avid hunter and guide for most of his years in Wyoming. After his retirement from the railroad he took up golfing with his wife, kids and neighbors. He worked for Don Conger doing all sorts of construction. He loved haying and all that had to do with the farms and ranches. He was a stickler for a clean car and was always washing them in the driveway when he wasn't mowing, shoveling or cleaning gutters for the neighbors. He made homemade ice cream that is yet to be matched, for birthdays and special occasions at home and at Saint Anthony Senior Apartments where he and Dottie picked up papers and other recyclables each week for 26 years. Bob and Dottie traveled extensively during the 70 years they were together all over the world and loved every place they went. He loved his squirrels and birds which he fed and watched daily from his kitchen chair. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends of which he never met a stranger.
